The transactions through debit cards saw a significant rise to Tk 441,442.5 million in April 2023. The growth is aligned with the shift in consumer behavior who are now using debit and credit cards more for purchase instead of using cash & cheques.

The amount was 3.27 times higher compared to April 2019.

The number of debit card issuance has seen 4 consecutive YoY double-digit growths in April 2023. The number of debit cards increased by 1% compared to March 2023.

The number of transactions continues its gradual growth which is aligned with the shift in consumer purchasing behavior. The number of transactions through debit cards increased by 9% compared to March 2023. The number of transactions increased by 2.53 times compared to April 2019.

Amount of transactions continues its consecutive double-digit growth but the average amount per transaction declined compared to the same period last year. The average amount per transaction was Tk 9,507.6 in April 2023 which was Tk 9,552.3 in April 2022. The average amount per transaction was Tk 7,348.9 in April 2019.
