Bangladesh TechConnect 2026 holds in Dhaka to explore how connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies can support Bangladesh’s economic growth. Jointly organized by the Posts and Telecommunications Division of the Government of Bangladesh and Huawei, the event brought together more than 500 policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, technology experts, academics and development partners as stated in the Press Release.

Held under the theme “Bangladesh First,” the event was inaugurated by Faqir Mahbub Anam, MP, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology, in the presence of Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, ndc, Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division; Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division; and Jason Wu, President, Huawei South Asia Region. The keynote presentation was delivered by Saida Afroz, Joint Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division.

The event emphasised advancing Bangladesh towards a more prosperous, investment-driven and knowledge-based economy through stronger connectivity, reliable digital infrastructure and inclusive digital growth.

During the event, Faqir Mahbub Anam, MP, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology, said, “Guided by the vision of ‘Bangladesh First,’ our government is committed to building a prosperous, knowledge-based economy through resilient digital infrastructure, advancing Bangladesh as a hub for IT and AI, and creating one million digital-sector jobs over the next five years. We value Huawei’s contribution to our telecommunications and AI sectors and look forward to continued collaboration to accelerate the country’s digital ecosystem.”

Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division, Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, ndc, stated, “Bangladesh TechConnect has grown into a national platform, bringing together more than 500 participants from government, industry, academia, development partners and the media. Our shared ambition is to bring policy and industry closer to accelerate Bangladesh’s digital growth, recognising that digital infrastructure is not a luxury but a vital foundation for a prosperous, investment-driven and knowledge-based economy.”

Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division, added, “The government has identified five strategic pillars to accelerate Bangladesh’s digital transformation: a strong legal and policy framework, reliable connectivity, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and domestic manufacturing. We have already begun work on formulating a national AI policy, which we hope to develop within the next three to four months. Together, these pillars aim to build an integrated, secure and inclusive digital ecosystem that expands access to technology, improves public services and drives national economic growth. Achieving this vision will require strong collaboration between the government and industry.”

Jason Wu, President, Huawei South Asia Region highlighted, “Huawei is committed to working with Bangladesh’s government and industry partners to advance digital infrastructure and technology adoption. Through our capabilities in connectivity, cloud and AI, we aim to support local industries in improving efficiency, developing new services and contributing to Bangladesh’s long-term digital growth.”
