BRAC Bank promotes Md. Shaheen Iqbal and Ahmed Rashid Joy to Additional Managing Directors

The Board of Directors of BRAC Bank has promoted Md. Shaheen Iqbal, CFA and Ahmed Rashid Joy to Additional Managing Directors (AMDs) effective from March 1, 2026 as stated in the Press Release.

Md. Shaheen Iqbal now serves as Additional Managing Director & Head of Wholesale Banking. He will look after key business segments including Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking, Transaction Banking, Structured Finance, Remittance & Probashi Banking and Financial Institutions.

Since joining BRAC Bank in 2004, he has built deep expertise in treasury and financial management, including foreign exchange, money markets, capital markets, derivatives, asset-liability management, and financial institution relationships.

Shaheen Iqbal completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Chattogram (now CUET) and M.B.A. from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. He earned prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter from CFA Institute, Virginia, USA. He is a former President of the CFA Society Bangladesh, a member Society of CFA Institute, Virginia, USA.

Commenting on the promotion, Managing Director & CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan said, โ€œShaheen Iqbal has been a cornerstone of BRAC Bank for 21 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment, leadership, and excellence across multiple business functions. His strategic vision, innovation in financial products, and market understanding will strengthen our Wholesale Banking business. In this leadership position, I am sure, he will contribute to make BRAC Bank the most esteemed and preferred Corporate and Transaction Bank in the industry.โ€

Ahmed Rashid Joy has been promoted to the position of Additional Managing Director & Chief Risk Officer. He joined BRAC Bank in October 2019 as Head of Credit Risk Management and has since played a pivotal role in strengthening the bankโ€™s risk governance and asset quality. Ahmed Rashid Joy started his banking career as a Management Trainee with Eastern Bank and has also worked at the IFC, Mutual Trust Bank and IDLC Finance in his 27-year career. He completed his Masters in Bank Management (MBM) from Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM). In view of his extensive expertise and strategic insight in risk management, he has been included in several prominent regulatory committees.

Commenting on the promotion, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan said: โ€œAhmed Rashidโ€™s leadership has significantly enhanced our risk management capabilities. He has played a pivotal role in strengthening the risk management framework and driving key transformation initiatives.
