TikTok Introduces Flood Misinformation Filter in Bangladesh

TikTok has launched a new in-app feature in Bangladesh to combat the spread of misinformation during the ongoing monsoon flood season. As per an official press release, the platform now displays a dedicated search guide when users seek flood-related content. This guide features a banner directing users to reliable sources, including the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) and TikTok’s own Safety Center stated in a report.

The initiative also integrates TikTok’s Tragic Event Support guide, offering resources for individuals impacted by natural disasters or distressing events. It provides details on identifying tragic events, accessing mental health support, responsibly reporting content, and avoiding the spread of unverified information. Through this feature, TikTok aims to foster a safer and more informed digital environment for Bangladeshi users during times of crisis.
