Standard Chartered Bangladesh has announced the appointment of Enamul Huque as chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026. Huque brings 25 years of extensive experience with Standard Chartered across Bangladesh and international markets, with a strong background spanning corporate and institutional banking as well as risk management as stated in the Press Release.
Throughout his career, Huque has worked across local corporate banking, commodity trading, agribusiness, global subsidiaries, and financial institutions. He has successfully managed strategic client relationships and complex transactions across a variety of sectors. Immediately prior to this appointment, he served as the country chief risk officer and senior credit officer starting in April 2025. “It is an honour to be appointed as CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh. This bank has been my professional identity for over 25 years,” Huque stated regarding his new role. “Taking up the role of chief executive officer of our Bangladesh franchise is both a recognition and a major responsibility.” He noted that his immediate priorities will center on strengthening the bank’s role in connecting clients to international markets and maintaining trusted relationships with clients, regulators, and community stakeholders.
Beyond his responsibilities at Standard Chartered, Huque served as co-chair of the Standing Committee on Capital Markets and Bond at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the 2023โ25 term. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Mount Eliza Business School at Monash University in Australia, alongside graduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Dhaka.
