Reportedly, the online retailer is expanding its business in physical retail by opening department stores in California and Ohio. The stores are expected to be smaller than 100,000 square-foot which is smaller than average stores of Macy’s or JC Penney, with a total footprint of only about 30,000 square feet.
In 2019 according to a video report of The Wall Street Journal, Amazon was acquiring empty mall spaces in Northeastern Ohio. The company also asked some U.S retailers to open retail stores to show their products.
