Mastercard, Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), and Sheba Pay have collaborated to launch Bangladesh’s first SME Companion prepaid card. Specially designed for SME retailers transacting on Sheba Pay’s B2B platform, this innovative solution will address the evolving payment needs of small businesses.
The co-branded prepaid card will empower small retailers with seamless access to Sheba Pay’s wide range of B2B services, such as managing cash flow and payments on time—all through one platform, without the need for a traditional bank account. Developed to promote accessibility, it’ll serve as a game-changing financial tool for underbanked merchants. The new card will support NFC-enabled contactless payments, real-time balance mirroring, ATM withdrawals, and versatile usability across online and offline platforms, both locally and internationally. Cardholders will also enjoy exclusive Mastercard offers and privileges, including benefits on travel, lifestyle, and dining expenses, along with exciting discounts and deals at over 9,000 partner merchant outlets across the country.
Alongside the SME card, a consumer prepaid card, enabling individuals to access Sheba Pay services with equal ease and flexibility, has also been launched. Both the SME and consumer cards will be available in physical and virtual forms.
This pioneering initiative by MTB, Mastercard and Sheba Pay marks a major step forward in digitizing financial inclusion for Bangladesh’s SME ecosystem—offering secure, versatile, and frictionless payment solutions for a new generation of merchants and consumers.
