Two Bangladeshis have been named to the Vogue Business 100 Innovators list for 2023. Mostafiz Uddin, founder and CEO of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), and Tawhida Shiropa, founder of Bangladeshi startup Moner Bondhu, were both selected as “Sustainability Thought Leaders”.
The Vogue Business 100 Innovators list is an annual recognition of global change-makers who are working to make the fashion and beauty industries more sustainable. The list is divided into five categories: Tech and Web3 Innovators, Sustainability Thought Leaders, Next-gen Entrepreneurs and Agitators, Beauty Disruptors, and Champions of Change.
Mostafiz Uddin is a pioneer in the sustainable fashion industry. He founded BAE (Bangladesh Apparel Exchange) with the goal of creating a more ethical and sustainable supply chain for the garment industry in Bangladesh. BAE has been praised for its innovative use of technology to reduce waste and improve working conditions in the garment industry.

Tawhida Shiropa is a former journalist who founded Moner Bondhu in 2017 to provide low-cost and accessible mental health services to women and youth in Bangladesh. Moner Bondhu has been recognized for its innovative approach to mental health care, which combines counseling, workshops, and beauty and nutrition initiatives.
In addition to being recognized by Vogue Business, Mostafiz Uddin has also been named among the world’s most influential figures in the field of denim. Tawhida Shiropa’s startup, Moner Bondhu, was also awarded the ICT Division’s Best Startup Award at Digital World in 2017.
