Her academic endeavors culminated in a Doctorate Degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, all while concurrently working in Silicon Valley, showcasing her remarkable dedication and versatility.

A pivotal moment in Dr. Chowdhury’s career was her role as the Director of Engineering for Twitter’s Machine Learning Ethics, Transparency, and Accountability (META) team, a position she held from February 2021 to November 2022. During her tenure, she tirelessly worked to align Twitter’s AI algorithms with strict ethical guidelines, ensuring a more responsible and transparent platform.

In a groundbreaking event held in Las Vegas, Dr. Chowdhury co-organized an event that brought together around 4,000 hackers. Participants were challenged to identify vulnerabilities in chatbots developed by tech giants like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Hackers were awarded points for persuading AI systems to break their own rules, revealing ethical boundaries and potential pitfalls in AI technologies.
