Visa held its annual ‘Visa Leadership Conclave Bangladesh 2024’ in Dhaka this evening, to celebrate its most valued clients and partners in the country, as stated in the press release.

Held in the presence of Chief Guest Ashik Chowdhury, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager, Visa India and South Asia, the event honoured various banks, MFS (mobile financial services) providers and merchants for their contributions to the digital payments ecosystem.

Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager, Visa India and South Asia commented, “I am delighted to be back in Bangladesh and commemorate our most valued clients and partners. We truly believe in the country’s potential and buoyed by its rapid adoption of all things digital, we are confident that Bangladesh will become a less-cash, digitally empowered economy at speed. Visa is honoured to be working closely with its partners and the Government to make this happen across different spheres of commerce.”

Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager – Visa, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan said, “We are thrilled to celebrate our partners from the payments ecosystem this evening and the solid relationships that are helping digitize our nation at speed. We look forward to deepening our commitment to Bangladesh further and focusing on scaling the less-cash agenda through innovation and inclusivity.”

The event was attended by dignitaries from across the banking and payments ecosystem including Chief Guest – Ashik Chowdhury, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Guest of Honor – Rafeza Akhter Kanta, Director, Payment System Department, Bangladesh Bank and Special Guest – James Gardiner, Foreign Service Officer – U.S. Department of State, US Embassy in Dhaka.

Visa Leadership Conclave Bangladesh 2024 emphasized the importance of Bangladesh as a market and Visa’s focus on digitization of the Bangladesh economy. It also elaborated Visa’s innovations in credential-based payments.

Visa continues to engage and work closely with policy elites, government stakeholders and key partners to contribute to Bangladesh’s digital payments landscape with a deep focus on bringing innovation and sustainable growth to the country.
