Cosmética Dhaka 2026 opens in Dhaka; exhibitors from 16 countries showcase products at over 100 stalls

State Minister of Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam has called for greater local and foreign investment in Bangladesh’s cosmetics, skincare and personal care industry, urging stakeholders to transform the multi-billion-taka sector from an import-dependent market into a major hub for manufacturing, exports and investment as stated in the Press Release.

She made the call while inaugurating Cosmética Dhaka 2026: Powerd by Remark Herlan, a three-day exhibition on cosmetics, skincare and personal care products, at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Kuril, Dhaka, on Thursday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, Shama Obaid said Bangladesh could leverage the production capacity, compliance infrastructure, skilled workforce and global buyer relationships developed through its apparel industry to build a competitive cosmetics sector.

“By leveraging the production capacity, compliance infrastructure, skilled workforce and global buyer relationships that we have developed in the readymade garment industry, it is possible to establish contract manufacturing, formulation, specialised packaging, quality laboratories and certification facilities in the cosmetics sector as well,” she said.

She also stressed the potential of Bangladesh’s agricultural and natural resources.

“If we can build a strong supply chain of certified botanical and herbal ingredients by utilising Bangladesh’s agriculture and natural resources, this sector will not only meet domestic demand but also open new export opportunities for Bangladesh in the global market,” she said.

The state minister said the government’s vision was to take the industry beyond “Made in Bangladesh” towards “Formulated, Developed and Branded in Bangladesh”.

“To achieve this, we need to ensure investment facilitation, internationally recognised testing and certification, intellectual property protection, sustainable packaging and necessary support for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs,” she said.

“If we can establish an integrated industrial base by ensuring environmentally friendly production, safe raw materials and international standards, the cosmetics and personal care sector could emerge as a new and powerful area for foreign currency earnings, employment generation and economic diplomacy in Bangladesh,” she added.

Apart from Bangladesh, renowned cosmetics brands, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and health experts from 16 countries are participating in this year’s exhibition, including South Korea, Thailand, the United States, France, Singapore, China, Japan and India.

The three-day event features more than 100 product stalls, live demonstrations, beauty consultations, discussions with skincare experts and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The domestic cosmetics, toiletries and personal care market has seen growing participation from local entrepreneurs alongside major multinational companies.

As the presence of local brands expands, investment in product diversity, quality, packaging and technology-driven manufacturing is also increasing. Rising demand for affordable products is creating opportunities for local brands to increase their market share, while the presence of major multinational companies is making the market increasingly competitive.

Speaking as a special guest, Baharul Monsur, president of the Bangladesh Indenting Agents’ Association (BIAA), said Bangladesh’s cosmetics and personal care industry has been growing every year.

“BIAA has been working for a long time to ensure sustainable growth in this sector. Through Cosmética Dhaka, we want to see more investment come into the industry and help it expand further,” he said.

Frank Kenton, senior perfumer at Senses International Ltd, said he had been working in Bangladesh for 40 years and considered the country one of the promising markets in South Asia.

“Of course, quality products have to be produced for this market, but they must also remain within the purchasing capacity of consumers,” he said.

Dhruv Arora, director of Sachirrom Ltd, said Cosmética Dhaka was creating a new platform for bringing quality cosmetics products to consumers and raising awareness among customers.

“Sachirrom has always been working to produce quality products for the people of Bangladesh and for this environment,” he said.

SM Faisal Munim, CEO of Squad Mind Global Ltd, thanked the local and international participants, as well as the business promotion councils of Thailand, South Korea and Bangladesh, for their participation.

“We expect Cosmética Dhaka 2026, being held for the second time, to attract more local and foreign investment into this sector. We want this exhibition to establish itself as a cross-matching platform for the industry,” he said.

Among others, MD of Squad Mind Global Ltd Tanzin Sultana Priyanka BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Ingenious Resources Director Fakhrul Alam, Remark-Harlen Director Sukanta Das, and ACI Consumer Brands Executive Director and COO Kamrul Hasan attended the opening ceremony.

The organisers hope the exhibition will help attract new investment, facilitate technology transfer and create international partnerships in Bangladesh’s promising cosmetics and personal care industry.

Media partners of this year’s event include Haul Fashion, Agamir Shomoy, Protidiner Bangladesh, Bangla Vision, Banglanews24.com and Bangla Telegraph.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors from 10:00am to 7:00pm every day.
