Standard Chartered Bangladesh has won two major honours, the Health Equity and Inclusion Award and the Job Creation Award, at the ESGBusiness Awards 2026, recognising the Bank’s contributions to health equity, social inclusion and job creation in Bangladesh. These recognitions were announced at the ESGBusiness Awards 2026 programme, held in Singapore on 17 September 2026; to honour businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices across Asia, including the Middle East, Central Asia, Far East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia as stated in the Press release.
These recognitions reflect the Bank’s long-lasting commitment and continued efforts to create meaningful impact across the country through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The ‘Health Equity and Inclusion Award, Bangladesh’ recognizes Standard Chartered’s long-standing commitment to improving access to essential healthcare for some of the most hard-to-reach communities, and to translating its corporate commitment into tangible, life-enhancing outcomes. Through one of its flagship healthcare initiatives, the Bank has supported programmes across 100 unions in six underserved and distinct geographies; including Barind, Beel, Char, Coastal, Hill Tract, and Haor and directly benefiting more than 30,000 adolescents and young women and indirectly reaching a further 100,000 individuals.
The ‘Job Creation Award, Bangladesh’ acknowledges the Bank’s efforts to create sustainable economic opportunities, build workforce capacity, and promote financial and social inclusion – particularly among vulnerable communities, youth, and women. Some of the Bank’s initiatives are already delivering significant impact on the ground including ‘Giving Wings to Dreams for Youth Empowerment’ with UCEP, ‘Empowering the Future’ with BRAC, and ‘Generation Unlimited’s (GenU) Passport to Earning (P2E)’ with UNICEF and collectively equipping young people with market-relevant skills, expanding access to decent work, and supporting inclusive economic growth across Bangladesh.
