Mohammed Forkan Uddin Elected As New President of ICAB1 min read
Scheduled for January 1, 2024, Mohammed Forkan Uddin, the Managing Partner of MM Rahman & Co, Chartered Accountants, a member firm of Russell Bedford International (UK), assumes the presidency of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). As reported, this follows the completion of Md Moniruzzaman’s one-year term on December 31.
Reportedly, with a robust professional background, Uddin was previously a partner at Masih Muhith Haque & Co, a member firm of RSM International, and served as a manager at Banco Finance & Investment Ltd. He became an associate member of ICAB in 2005, achieving fellow membership in 2010. Uddin has been actively involved in ICAB, serving as one of its vice-presidents in 2020 and holding a council membership for two consecutive terms.
Currently, Uddin holds significant positions, serving as the chairman of the audit committee and a director on the board of Unique Hotel & Resorts Ltd. Additionally, he is a board member of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL), Intech Ltd, and Chartered Life Insurance Co Ltd. His affiliations extend to being a life member of Bangladesh Economic Association and Feni Samity, as well as holding the position of vice-president at the Rotary Club of Baridhara Sunrise.
Alongside Uddin, the newly elected vice-presidents include MBM Lutful Hadee, proprietor of Hadee Lutful & Co, Maria Howlader, managing partner and founder of Howlader Maria & Co, and Md Johirul Islam, a partner at A Qasem & Co. These appointments were made during a recent council meeting, signifying a pivotal moment in ICAB’s leadership and underlining the commitment to maintaining high standards within the accounting profession in Bangladesh.
