To promote the health and well-being of Bangladesh’s sanitation workers, leading hygiene brand Harpic has announced a partnership with Sajida Foundation, a renowned NGO dedicated to social development. The partnership, unveiled at a signing ceremony held at the headquarters of Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC in Gulshan-1, aims to address the pressing health and hygiene challenges faced by sanitation workers across the country. These workers, often hailing from marginalized communities, endure social exclusion and discrimination despite their critical role in maintaining public health and hygiene standards.

Sanitation workers in Bangladesh often toil under hazardous conditions with limited access to basic healthcare, residing in congested colonies and slums. This partnership endeavors to improve the lives of 1,000 sanitation workers and their families through a series of targeted initiatives. Under the one-year-long partnership, sanitation workers’ families will receive insurance premium support, while hygiene sessions conducted by Harpic will educate them on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Additionally, the collaboration involves providing discounted healthcare services at over 250 hospitals nationwide for sanitation workers and their families. The Harpic Healthcare card will facilitate access to these services, ensuring they receive the care they need at reduced costs. Vishal Gupta, Managing Director of Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC, emphasized the fundamental human right to hygiene and health, affirming the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in marginalized communities.

Senior adviser Fazlul Haque of Sajida Foundation expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to create a meaningful impact in the lives of sanitation workers, underscoring the foundation’s longstanding dedication to social development, particularly in the health sector. The Harpic and Sajida Foundation partnership signifies a concerted effort towards creating a fairer and more inclusive society, prioritizing the health and well-being of those often overlooked in traditional healthcare initiatives.
