A country-wide AI Hackathon at AIUB university will tackle real civic environmental challenges in Bangladesh, as part of the Global “Hack for Humanity” program happening world-wide by The AI Collective, USA.
The AI Collective Bangladesh Chapter is organizing “Hack for Humanity: Hack to Protect the Environment,” a team-based Software-based Hackathon hosted by American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in Kuril, Dhaka. Registration is now open, and Round 1 submission are due on 30 September 2026 as stated in the Press Release.
The event is part of Hack for Humanity, a global initiative by The AI Collective, which is bringing together 130 chapters across more than 50 countries in September and October 2026. Each chapter will use AI to tackle civic challenges in its own community. In Bangladesh, participants will identify real environmental problems and develop AI-powered solutions
Teams of up to three members will compete across three rounds: in the first round, teams will submit proposals detailing a real problem in Bangladesh and their solutions based on Software Engineering and AI technologies. In round two, only the shortlisted teams will be invited to develop a prototype/demo of the solution. During this round, online mentoring and tech support will be available for the teams. In round three, only the final shortlisted teams will be invited at AIUB to demonstrate their solutions in front of a judge panel.
Projects can address national challenges in three tracks: Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability; Inclusive Rural Development and Agriculture; and Smart Society and Public Services. The best teams will share cash prizes of up to BDT 50,000 in total.
The hackathon is open to university students from any discipline, as well as fresh graduates, newly employed individuals, and start-ups established within the last two years.
