BRAC Bank 'Aporajeyo TARA Scholarships' To Support 300 Female Students At Rajshahi University

BRAC Bank has recently expanded its ‘Aporajeyo TARA Scholarships’ program to provide financial assistance to 300 female students at the University of Rajshahi (RU), according to press release.

This partnership was formalised during a signing ceremony held at the RU campus on February 16, 2025, where Professor Dr Saleh Hasan Naquib, Vice-Chancellor of RU, and Sabbir Hossain, DMD and Chief Operating Officer of BRAC Bank, inked the agreement.

During the ceremony, Professor Dr Naquib expressed gratitude to BRAC Bank, stating, “This initiative by BRAC Bank will have a lasting impact on the lives of our female students. It offers more than just financial assistance; it catalyses change, enabling our students to dream bigger and achieve greater milestones in their academic and professional journeys.”

Sabbir Hossain said, “At BRAC Bank, we believe that investing in women’s education is investing in the nation’s future. With the Aporajeyo TARA Scholarships, we aspire to bridge the gender gap in tertiary education and ensure that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints.”

Women remain underrepresented in tertiary education in Bangladesh, comprising less than 40% of university students. Recognising this disparity, BRAC Bank has focused its scholarship programme on uplifting female students, helping them access quality education and become empowered changemakers.

Aporajeyo TARA is BRAC Bank’s flagship CSR initiative to champion women’s education. Beyond RU, BRAC Bank has supported students in institutions such as the University of Dhaka, BRAC University, and many others through Prothom Alo Trust since 2011, with more than 2,000 beneficiaries.
