Instagram is carrying out the option for users to upload longer uninterrupted stories. At the moment, if you upload a story under 60 seconds in length, will not split into smaller sections. At the end of last year, the company started testing the change with some limited users. Right now, this facility is available for users globally.

For the creators and viewers, the new change is a welcome expansion to the application. Now, users can post uninterrupted stories that will not split up. On the other hand, viewers will no longer have to constantly tap through a long video. Yet, the change can likewise become a turnoff for the people who liked the simplicity of short, bite-sized Stories.

The capacity to post longer uninterrupted stories creates a thin line between Stories and Reels. Currently, users have two choices while posting a 60-second video.

As Instagram turns its focus to videos, the social network has launched a lot of possible options for its video content. Consequently, In June, the company extended Instagram Reels to 90 seconds, from the past 60 second-limit. Instagram likewise made a framework change that automatically shares videos less than 15 minutes long, as Reels.

Not to mention, Instagram is entangled in harsh competition with TikTok. The subsidiary of meta recognized videos as the response to the Chinese online entertainment platform’s remarkable growth over recent years.

By obscuring the lines between its video formats, Instagram is trying to simplify the application. Simultaneously, increasing user engagement. As per the report, Instagram is continuously working on ways to improve the story’s experience. Now, users will be able to play and create Stories continuously for up to 60 seconds, instead of being automatically cut into 15-second clips.

The change to stories shows that Instagram has confidence in its shift into a video-centered stage. For more updates, be with Markedium.
