In an official announcement, the Board of Directors of Robi Axiata Limited (Robi) has named Vivek Sood as the new Chairman of the company, effective immediately. This move marks a change in leadership as Vivek Sood steps into the role, succeeding Thayaparan Sangarapillai, who has served as Chairman of Robi Axiata since 2021.

Vivek Sood currently serves as the Group CEO and Managing Director of Axiata Group Berhad, a position he assumed in March 2023 after his tenure as Joint Acting GCEO starting in June 2022. His appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director underscores his extensive experience and leadership capabilities within the telecommunications industry.

Sood’s impressive career trajectory includes his role as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Axiata in 2017. Before joining Axiata, he held the position of Executive Vice President and Group Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Group, a testament to his wide-ranging expertise. Sood’s professional journey also includes key leadership roles such as CFO and CEO at Telenor India, CEO of Grameenphone in Bangladesh, and Chief Operating Officer and CFO of Tata AIA Life Insurance in India.

In addition to his new role as Chairman of Robi Axiata Limited, Vivek Sood also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Axiata Digital & Analytics Sdn Bhd and Boost Holdings Sdn Bhd, further cementing his pivotal role within the Axiata Group.
