During a discussion with their Country Lead MD, Shahadat Hossain, the impact of various sound sources such as metro systems, traffic, and construction on urban life was highlighted. The lack of noise assessment and solution design in city planning exacerbates these issues, increasing suffering for residents. Additionally, noise and vibration from shipbuilding and operational ships negatively impact marine life.
Veneklasen Associates is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in building sustainable cities and balancing sea life globally. They are now inviting ideas from the public to mitigate noise pollution in Dhaka, promoting a sustainable city and raising awareness among its residents. The best idea contributor will have the opportunity to meet their Managing Principal, world-renowned acoustic consultant Dr. Mahabir Atwal, and receive technical support for implementing their idea.
