A student-led, community-driven ride-sharing platform focused on safety, affordability, and convenience for NSUers

UniRide, a ride-sharing platform built exclusively for the North South University (NSU) community, has been launched to address the daily commuting challenges faced by students. Founded by NSU student Raya Tazrian Smita, UniRide was developed from a personal need to overcome the limitations of existing transportation options. While NSU offers bus services, they are often insufficient
and may not align with individual schedules as stated in the Press Release.

Missing a university bus can create significant inconvenience —particularly for female students, where safety and reliability are critical concerns.

To address this issue, Raya collaborated with her cousin, Mohd. Istiaq Hossain Junaid, a graduate of
Computer Science and Engineering from NSU. Together, they developed UniRide as a technology-driven solution designed specifically for the university community.

UniRide offers three core features to improve daily commuting:
Instant Ride: Enables students to quickly find and book rides within a verified NSU network.
Share Ride: Allows students with bikes or cars to share their empty seats and earn while commuting
along their regular routes.
Vehicle Rental: Provides flexible access to cars and bikes from verified members for short-term travel needs.

The platform operates within a fully verified NSU-only ecosystem, where all users register using official university email addresses. This ensures a safe, trusted, and community-focused environment. UniRide also emphasizes safer travel options for female students by enabling trusted ride-sharing within the network.

Since its initial launch, UniRide has received a strong response from the community, with over 100 NSU students joining within the first week. The team is also working on introducing structured shuttle
services, including the Mirpur–NSU–Mirpur route, to further enhance commuting convenience.
Looking ahead, UniRide plans to expand its services to other university communities, including
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and BRAC University
