Rashed Maqsood Named BSEC Chief1 min read
The interim government has announced the appointment of Khondoker Rashed Maqsood as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for a four-year term. The finance ministry released an official notice today confirming his appointment. Maqsood’s selection comes just a day after economist M Masrur Reaz declined the position of BSEC chief, despite being appointed on August 13. The chairmanship had remained vacant since August 11, following the resignation of Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam in the wake of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government’s fall.
With a wealth of experience in the banking and financial sectors, Maqsood currently serves as an adviser for strategy and business development with the International Finance Corporation. His impressive career portfolio includes positions as managing director and CEO at both Standard Bank and NRB Commercial Bank. Additionally, he served as the country officer for Citibank NA Bangladesh and as managing director of Citibank Indonesia.
