PUMA And RE&UP Join Forces To Advance Global Textile Recycling

PUMA Group has entered into a multi-year collaboration with RE&UP Recycling Technologies to expand textile-to-textile recycling worldwide. This partnership aims to enhance PUMA’s RE:FIBRE programme by incorporating RE&UP’s recycled cotton fibres and polyester chips into its supply chain reportedly.

As part of this initiative, PUMA plans to extend the use of these recycled materials to its operations in the Americas, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. RE&UP’s innovative technology processes blended textiles using 100% renewable energy, producing high-quality recycled materials with a lower environmental footprint.

Howard Williams, Director of Global Innovation Apparel & Accessories at PUMA, emphasized the potential of the partnership, noting that it enables the integration of virgin-equivalent recycled materials into PUMA’s products.

This collaboration is a strategic step toward PUMA’s Vision 2030, which aims to achieve 30% fiber-to-fiber recycled polyester in its apparel by the end of the decade.

Özgür Atsan, Chief Commercial Officer at RE&UP, praised PUMA’s commitment to sustainability, describing it as one of the most forward-thinking brands in the industry. He highlighted their shared vision of closing the recycled material gap and establishing circularity as a standard practice in the textile industry.

Founded in 2023, RE&UP operates facilities in Türkiye and has ambitious plans to expand its global footprint. The company is targeting a recycling capacity of over one million tons of textile waste by 2030, further driving innovation in sustainable materials.

Through this partnership, PUMA and RE&UP are taking a significant step toward making next-generation recycled textiles the norm, reinforcing sustainability as a key pillar of the fashion industry’s future.
