The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has ushered in a new era of urban convenience with the official launch of the ‘DNCC Smart Parking‘ app. This groundbreaking on-street parking system aims to revolutionize the way vehicle owners find, reserve, and pay for parking spaces within the city.
The pilot program inauguration took place at the DNCC’s Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan 2, where city officials and residents gathered to witness the cutting-edge solution in action. According to the authorities, the ‘DNCC Smart Parking’ app promises to simplify the often-frustrating parking experience, making it more user-friendly and efficient.
Key features of the ‘DNCC Smart Parking’ app include:
- Effortless Spot Identification: Users can quickly identify available parking spaces in their vicinity.
- Advance Reservation: Secure a parking spot in advance, ensuring peace of mind upon arrival.
- Seamless Payments: Handling payments is a breeze, with various online payment options available through the app.
Getting started with the app is a straightforward process. Potential users can download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once installed, there is an option to ‘Create an Account,’ where users input their personal and vehicle information and verify their account through a one-time password (OTP).
To ensure organized parking, drivers are required to park their vehicles either in parallel or at a 60-degree angle in designated white-marked spots on the sidewalk. To validate parking, users have the choice of using the app or a ‘Smart Parking Card.’
For app users, the steps are as follows:
- Register on the app.
- Open the app and select the desired street.
- Tap the ‘Parking’ button.
- Specify the parking duration and location.
- View the parking fees, payable through a variety of online payment methods.
- Complete the payment, and the parking service is activated.
Alternatively, users can opt for a ‘Smart Parking Card,’ obtainable from street wardens or at the Gulshan and Banani branches of Islami Bank. The card should be registered with the user’s information at the bank and loaded with credit. To use it, simply hand the card to a warden, indicate the parking duration, and the warden will deduct the fee using a point-of-sale (POS) machine while providing a receipt.

The launch event speakers emphasized that the project aspires to match the modern parking management systems found in developed countries.
