Dhaka, Saturday, April 18, 2026: BRAC Bank has taken a pioneering step to cultivate creativity and intellectual engagement among its people by launching its inaugural in-house literary magazine, ‘Kothamala’ as stated in the Press Release.

‘Kothamala’ stands as a distinctive literary platform that showcases the diverse creative expressions of the bank’s employees. This initiative marks a first-of-its-kind initiative within the banking industry, reflecting BRAC Bank’s commitment to nurturing storytelling, critical thinking, and artistic exploration in the workplace.

The publication offers a vibrant forum for colleagues to share their voices through short stories, poetry, essays, travelogues, and other literary forms. It embodies the organisation’s talent and celebrates a culture where creativity thrives alongside professional excellence.

Kothamala’ builds on the success of ‘Protishwar’ – a compilation of literary writings of BRAC Bank Reading Café members that received widespread reader appreciation. That was the first book written by the reading club members of a bank in Bangladesh. To ensure a continuous space for creative exploration, ‘Kothamala’ will be published triannually.

Commenting on the initiative, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said, “Kothamala is not merely a literary publication; it is a reflection of our collective intellect and imagination. It reinforces our belief that a truly progressive workplace is defined not only by business excellence but also by cultural and creative enrichment. We remain committed to fostering an environment where our people can excel both professionally and personally.”

He added, “By encouraging our colleagues to engage with literature and express themselves, we are nurturing a more cohesive workforce while contributing to a more thoughtful and creative society. This literary periodical is a testament to our enduring commitment to these values, and I take immense pride in the vibrant literary culture we continue to cultivate at BRAC Bank.”
