Bangladesh Receives USD 6,573 Million in Remittance for Q1 FY 2024-251 min read
In the first quarter of FY 2024-25 (July – September), Bangladesh recorded a remittance inflow of USD 6,573 million. This represents a notable increase of USD 1,636 million or 33.3% compared to the same period in FY 2023-24. Since August 5, the country has experienced a surge in remittance inflows, averaging over USD 2,000 million per month in August and September.
Dhaka Division Leads in Remittance Inflows
Dhaka Division secured the highest remittance inflow during this period, amounting to USD 3,179.2 million. Chattogram Division followed as the second-highest recipient, with USD 1,803.8 million. Notably, no other division crossed the USD 1,000 million mark in Q1 FY 2024-25.
Dhaka district emerged as the top district, receiving USD 2,138.7 million in remittances. The top 10 districts collectively accounted for 66.5% of the total remittance inflow. At the other end of the spectrum, Bandarban received the lowest amount, at USD 4.5 million.
UAE Tops Remittance Sources
The United Arab Emirates led as the top source of remittance, with the top 10 contributing countries bringing in USD 5,576.6 million, which made up 85.2% of the total remittance in Q1 FY 2024-25.
