Bangladesh Adds Two New LEED-Certified RMG Factories, Strengthening Green Leadership1 min read
Bangladesh’s journey towards sustainable industrial practices reached a new milestone as two more readymade garment (RMG) factories earned the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) reportedly.
Continental Garments Ind Pvt. Ltd. and Amir Shirt’s Limited have joined the ranks of 230 other factories in the country already recognized for their green initiatives, bringing the total number of LEED-certified factories in Bangladesh to an impressive 232.

The LEED certification underscores the factories’ dedication to minimizing environmental impact by adopting energy-efficient technologies, conserving water, and reducing waste. These advancements reflect the nation’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its booming textile and garment sectors.
Mohiuddin Rubel, a former director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), highlighted the significance to The Business Standard of this achievement, stating that it not only enhances Bangladesh’s standing with 232 LEED Green Factories but also reinforces its position as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing.
These certifications are a testament to Bangladesh’s unwavering push toward greener practices, solidifying its reputation as a pioneer in eco-friendly industrial development.
