For the first time in Uttara, Monno Presents TEDxUttara was successfully held at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), bringing together nearly 700 attendees for a day of ideas, inspiration, and dialogue. Licensed and organized by Sumaiya Kabir, with Imrul Ehsan serving as co-organizer, the landmark event marked a new chapter in Uttara’s growing cultural and intellectual scene.
Centered on the theme “Power of Possibility,” the event featured compelling talks from speakers across diverse fields who shared deeply personal and transformative journeys. Internationally renowned supermodel and fashion designer Bibi Russell highlighted the untapped potential of Bangladesh’s heritage and folk craftsmanship, reinforcing her global philosophy of “Fashion for Development.” Celebrated filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury reflected on navigating fear and uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of embracing possibility during life’s most challenging moments.
Adding a global culinary perspective, Australian-based Bangladeshi chef Kishwar Chowdhury shared her journey of taking Bengali cuisine to the international stage. Asif Iqbal, vocalist of the popular band Kaaktaal, delivered a powerful account of resilience, speaking candidly about his experience of imprisonment and the strength of willpower in redefining one’s future.
The speaker lineup also included Dr. Scott Leckman, Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Morshed Mishu, Manzur Al Matin, Badal Syed, Amitava Mitra, Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui, and child rights activist Faatiha Aayat. Through stories of innovation, social impact, and personal growth, each speaker illuminated a unique dimension of possibility leaving the audience inspired and reflective long after the event concluded.
