In Bangladesh’s aviation industry, Fly Dhaka Airlines is gearing up for its inaugural flight in November, marking the country’s 12th private airline entry in the past 25 years. Lt General (retd) Molla Fazle Akbar, CEO of Fly Dhaka Airlines, revealed the imminent launch highlighting the airline’s commitment to safe and affordable travel. With aircraft secured and efforts underway to obtain the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), Fly Dhaka Airlines is also actively recruiting personnel to support its operations.

Emphasizing ambitions beyond domestic borders, Akbar expressed intentions to establish a strong presence globally. Negotiations with a prominent Asian airline are already in progress to facilitate international expansion. Fly Dhaka Airlines plans to initially operate on domestic routes utilizing ATR 72-600 model aircraft. However, for future international services, the airline intends to introduce Airbus/Boeing aircraft, ensuring safety and reliability in its operations.

The airline’s owner, Anisul Islam Mahmud, a Jatiya Party lawmaker and businessman, aims to comply with regulations mandating one year of domestic operations before venturing into international routes. Fly Dhaka Airlines’ entry into the market comes amid challenges faced by previous private airlines, with eight ceasing operations due to financial difficulties, including Regent Airways in 2022. With its launch, Fly Dhaka Airlines joins the ranks of existing private carriers such as NovoAir, US-Bangla Airlines, and Air Astra.

As Fly Dhaka Airlines prepares to take flight, its entry injects new energy into Bangladesh’s aviation sector. With a focus on safety, affordability, and global expansion, the airline seeks to carve out a niche in the competitive industry landscape, promising travelers more options and enhanced connectivity both domestically and internationally.
