Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), the country’s leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, has been honoured with the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Sustainability Game Changer Award 2025 as the Champion in the Community Impact category for its transformative community initiatives implemented in 2024.

This recognition celebrates Unilever Bangladesh’s exemplary leadership in driving large-scale community impact through purpose-led initiatives that improve health, hygiene, livelihoods, empowerment, environmental resilience, and serve the country during crisis periods through swift and compassionate emergency responses. It reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to building a purposeful, equitable, and future-fit organisation for Bangladesh.

UBL’s community impact journey has been shaped by inclusive, system-driven models that reach people where they are, whether through the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital bringing healthcare to climate-affected char regions, public sanitation systems developed with Bhumijo, plastic waste management value-chain reforms in Chattogram, or livelihood and retail empowerment initiatives uplifting over 1.3 million small businesses and over 3000 waste workers. Each initiative combines purpose with partnership to deliver sustainable and measurable changes.

With over six decades of presence, Unilever Bangladesh continues to serve millions every day through more than 20 trusted brands. Guided by its purpose to “Brighten Everyday Life for All”. Its community programmes have already impacted over 120 million lives nationwide, driving long-term, inclusive growth through powerful partnerships.

Ruhul Quddus Khan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh Limited, said, At Unilever Bangladesh, sustainability is at the heart of how we operate and grow. Guided by our Growth Action Plan (GAP) 2030, we are committed to driving positive change through the four key sustainability pillars: Climate, Nature, Plastics, and Livelihoods.

This recognition as a FICCI Sustainability Game Changer in Community Impact is a reflection of that commitment and of the collective effort of our people and partners to uplift the communities we serve. Together, we are building impactful and scalable models that not only respond to today’s challenges but also strengthen systems for the future. From improving access to healthcare and clean water to enabling circular solutions and inclusive livelihoods, true sustainability is achieved when growth uplifts everyone. We will continue to work hand in hand with our partners to create impact that is scalable, enduring, and rooted in purpose.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ruhul Quddus Khan and Corporate Affairs, Partnerships & Communications Director Shamima Akhter received the award for Unilever Bangladesh at the event.

This year, Unilever Bangladesh has been recognized as the “Most Sustainable Company of the Year” at the SDG Brand Champions Award 2025, along with 6 other awards for various sustainability and community initiatives.
