The Spirit of Empowerment with Meril Revive

Meril Revive, for a brief time now, has championed the empowerment of women from all walks of life. Their latest campaign holds on to the same spirit.

The online video commercial encourages women to face the challenges in life, not take criticism to heart and chase their dreams with the tagline Gaaye Mekho Na.

In this ad, we see a ride-provider being discouraged by her family, urging her to choose a different career path. We also meet a passionate chef, seemingly running her own roadside food truck. She overhears her customers criticizing her, deeming her ‘too modern’ in a condescending manner.

Next, a woman faces the disappointment of her promotion not being as celebrated as that of her male counterparts. A military trainee trudges through mud, an athlete suffers from her broken marriage making news.

What makes this campaign stand out is that it portrays some very common problems and unsolicited opinions Bangladeshi women face on a daily basis. No one is a foreigner to being discouraged from following their dreams, having to put in more work than her male equals, or character assassination over her personal matters. That is what makes this campaign one that many women across the country, perhaps across the subcontinent, can resonate with.

Championing women’s empowerment and prioritizing intrinsic value over superficial beauty is what sets Meril Revive apart from its competitors. This campaign, not unlike the brand’s previous work, is refreshing and true to the brand’s own values.

So, what was your take on the campaign? Let us know and for more latest updates, be with Markedium.

Final semester Marketing & International Business major at North South University. Most likely jamming to K-Pop or The National as you read this. Will work for a slice of tiramisu.
