Renowned industrialist Tapan Chowdhury has been elected as the new chairman of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL). The election took place on 22nd August during a meeting of CDBL’s board of directors. Tapan Chowdhury, who is also the managing director of Square Pharmaceuticals, brings extensive experience from Bangladesh’s business sector to this pivotal role. His leadership at Square Pharmaceuticals has been widely recognized, and his new appointment is expected to further strengthen CDBL’s standing in the financial industry.
In another development, Rupali Haque Chowdhury, the managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh, has joined the CDBL board. She was nominated by the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC), signaling the association’s continued involvement in shaping CDBL’s future. This change in leadership comes after the resignation of former CDBL chairman Sheikh Kabir Hossain and vice chairman AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, who stepped down from their roles earlier this month.
