Robi Axiata, Bangladesh’s second-largest mobile phone operator, has announced a leadership shift as Rajeev Sethi (appointed an acting CEO) transitions to a new position within the Axiata Group. This change was revealed in a letter to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission stated in a report.

Effective February 1, 2025, M Riyaaz Rasheed, Robi’s current Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will step in as the acting CEO. This marks a return to a familiar role for Rasheed, who previously served as acting CEO from August 2021 to October 2022, following the resignation of Mahtab Uddin Ahmed.

Sethi took the helm as CEO in October 2022, bringing with him an impressive track record, including a successful tenure as CEO of Myanmar’s Ooredoo and a previous stint as CEO of Grameenphone.

As of November, Robi boasted 5.71 crore mobile subscribers, firmly holding the second spot in a market of 18.78 crore users. Grameenphone leads the industry with 8.45 crore subscribers, according to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.

This leadership transition comes as Robi continues its mission to innovate and grow in a competitive telecom landscape.
