
Global Smartphone Shipments Increased 1.5% in 2025, Samsung Tops the list1 min read
Samsung has secured top spot among the smartphone manufacturers, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. It is mentionable that IDC Tracker products provide accurate information about market size, vendor share, and forecasts for hundreds of technology markets from more than 100 countries around the globe, according to press release.
There have been a number of issues posing challenge to the global smartphone market. Despite the challenges, smartphone manufacturers have logged strong performance. As a result, global smartphone shipments increased 1.5% year-over-year (YoY) to 304.9 million units in the first quarter of 2025.

Samsung has reclaimed its market leadership, followed by Apple, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo in the top 5 spots in consideration of shipments in 1Q25. The success was mainly driven by popularity of its Galaxy S25 premium device and the Galaxy A series in the mid-range, particularly the latest Galaxy A36 and A56. These devices are offering AI at more affordable prices for the smartphone users. With a global market share of 19.9%, Samsung’s global shipments stood at 60.6 million units in the first quarter of 2025.
