Arla Foods Bangladesh as a subsidiary of the global dairy cooperative Arla Foods and the producer of Dano, has launched its new ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk production facility in Gazipur. The state-of-the-art factory, inaugurated on Thursday, marks a significant milestone in the country’s dairy industry.

The facility, developed through a landmark joint investment of approximately €15 million with partner Mutual Group, is poised to set a new standard for modern, safe, and sustainable dairy production in Bangladesh. This project represents the largest single investment in the country’s dairy sector and is the most substantial investment Arla Foods has made in Bangladesh to date. The new factory will produce a new UHT milk brand, aligning with Arla Foods’ sustainability vision of “stronger people, stronger planet” in Bangladesh. The site has received certifications for FSSC 22000 (Version 5.1) and ISO 9001:2015, underscoring Arla Foods’ commitment to delivering safe and nutritious dairy products.

The facility’s innovative design includes an energy efficiency system capable of saving 4 million liters of water and reducing CO2e emissions by 220 tons annually. Additionally, a modern wastewater treatment plant is expected to reduce the chemical footprint by 80-85% compared to traditional technologies. To ensure the highest consumer safety, the plant employs an aseptic sterile system, guaranteeing 100% safe products. Further emphasizing its commitment to environmental sustainability, Arla Foods Bangladesh aims to achieve an annual reduction of 405 tons of CO2e emissions through an upcoming sustainable solar panel project.

Laurent Ponty, Managing Director of Arla Foods Bangladesh Limited, expressed his gratitude to Mutual Group and the Bangladeshi government for their support. He emphasized Arla Foods’ global reputation for innovation and its commitment to enhancing the availability of nutritious and environmentally-friendly dairy products in Bangladesh. The launch of this cutting-edge UHT milk production facility marks a significant advancement in Bangladesh’s dairy industry, promising to deliver safe, nutritious, and sustainable dairy products to consumers while contributing to environmental conservation and economic growth.
