BRAC Bank ‘Uddokta 101’: 22 women entrepreneurs graduate from Daffodil International University2 min read

BRAC Bank and Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted a graduation ceremony for 22 women from the bank’s women entrepreneur accelerator programme, ‘Uddokta 101’, as stated in the press release.

The three-month intensive certification course, which began in June 2024, offered 12 modules covering key areas such as business development, finance, team building, and mental health. It also included a visit to a business factory for practical exposure.

BRAC Bank’s Women Banking TARA launched the signature grooming initiative ‘Uddokta 101’ to facilitate women fulfil their entrepreneurial dreams. This has become a platform for up-and-coming businesswomen against the backdrop of the rise of women entrepreneurship in Bangladesh. This comprehensive entrepreneur accelerator programme is aimed at facilitating the promising entrepreneurs in developing their managerial and entrepreneurial skills to help them expand business ventures.

After completing the classroom sessions, participants participated in a two-day fair at the DIU campus, designed to create market access opportunities by showcasing their products and services.

At the graduation ceremony on September 30, 2024, the top three participants presented their business cases to the audience, demonstrating the skills and insights they gained through the programme. Following this, the 22 women from the sixth batch of the programme received their graduation certificates.

Each graduate was introduced to two prominent business mentors, who will support them during the upcoming three-month mentorship phase. This guidance will help the entrepreneurs continue their development and expand their ventures.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Mohammad Jakirul Islam, Head of Strategy, Innovation and New Business; and Khadija Mariam, Head of the Women Entrepreneur Cell of BRAC Bank; Carmen Michaelis and Abbad El-Rayyes, Project Management professionals from DEG; and Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice-Chancellor of DIU; and Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship at DIU.

The ‘Uddokta 101’ programme is part of BRAC Bank’s strong commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering inclusive and sustainable business growth in Bangladesh.
