Banglalink and Teletalk to Pilot Telco Active Sharing2 min read

In a significant development for Bangladesh’s telecommunications sector, Banglalink and Teletalk have jointly introduced the pioneering Active Sharing (Roaming) service. This innovative initiative aims to revolutionize connectivity by seamlessly integrating the network infrastructure of both telecom operators, thereby enhancing coverage and service quality across the nation.

Following a successful trial period of national roaming, Banglalink and Teletalk have officially announced the rollout of the Active Sharing service. This collaboration enables Teletalk subscribers to effortlessly switch to Banglalink’s network in areas where Teletalk’s coverage may be limited, ensuring uninterrupted communication services for users. The Active Sharing service, built on the foundation of efficient resource utilization, utilizes Banglalink’s extensive network infrastructure to bolster coverage for Teletalk subscribers. This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in Bangladesh’s telecommunications landscape, unlocking new opportunities for both operators and consumers alike.

During the announcement ceremony, State Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecom, and IT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, hailed the initiative as a crucial milestone towards realizing the vision of a Smart Bangladesh. He emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving the nation’s digital transformation agenda. The pilot phase of the Active Sharing service will involve 2,000 selected Teletalk postpaid and prepaid subscribers, who will have access to seamless Voice, SMS, and Data Services through Banglalink’s Ookla-certified fastest 4G network. This trial phase aims to gather valuable insights and feedback before the nationwide commercial launch of the service.

Engr Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting the regulatory body’s commitment to facilitating such partnerships for the benefit of consumers. Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink, underscored the significance of the collaboration, noting that it represents a major milestone in the nation’s telecommunications history. He emphasized Banglalink’s dedication to expanding network coverage and contributing to Bangladesh’s vision of becoming a Smart Nation.

AKM Habibur Rahman, Managing Director of Teletalk, echoed similar sentiments, affirming Teletalk’s commitment to providing high-quality services to its customers. He highlighted the partnership with Banglalink as a key step towards enhancing connectivity and customer experience for Teletalk subscribers. With the successful pilot phase underway, Banglalink and Teletalk are poised to reshape Bangladesh’s telecommunications landscape through the nationwide rollout of the Active Sharing (Roaming) service, ushering in a new era of connectivity and digital inclusion for all citizens.
