Bangladesh’s industrial conglomerate, Bashundhara Group is about to expand their business further by entering the spice market competing with the likes of ACI, Pran, ACME and BD foods.

The company will start with ground turmeric, chili, cumin and coriander packaged spices and plans to bring all other types of conventional spices soon.

Bashundhara sells a variety of products in the retail market, such as soybean oil, semolina, and bread. The company also produces snack items such as vermicelli, noodles, pasta and puffed rice.

The spices market is a rapidly growing market in Bangladesh with a growth of 10-15% every year as more people prefer packaged spices now, claims spice manufacturers and marketers.

According to the spice brands, the Bangladeshi spice market size, both brand and non-brand is around Tk4,500-5,000 crore with a 2-3% growth every year.
