The Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), in partnership with MetLife Foundation, has launched a transformative skill development initiative titled ‘Jagoron’, aimed at empowering 150 individuals with disabilities. The program offers specialized training in three key areas: Computer Office Applications, Electronics and Mobile Phone Servicing, and Dressmaking and Tailoring.

Participants will receive certification upon completion, along with seed funding to help them start small businesses or pursue other income-generating opportunities. To ensure holistic support, CRP will also provide free medical and therapy services throughout the training period, within a fully inclusive and accessible environment.

The program was officially inaugurated at a recent ceremony attended by key stakeholders and dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, Valerie A. Taylor, Founder of CRP, said, “At CRP, we believe that every individual, regardless of physical ability, deserves the opportunity to lead a dignified and independent life. Through collaborative efforts like the ‘Jagoron’ program, we can create meaningful change by promoting inclusivity and empowering people with disabilities to thrive.”

Ala Ahmad, CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, commented: “The Jagoron project is one of MetLife Foundation’s important efforts to help build an empowered society. It is a meaningful step toward supporting people with disabilities by providing them with the skills they need to earn a living and improve their lives.”

Dr. Sohrab Hossain, Executive Director of CRP, said, “Jagoron program is a reflection of our commitment to creating inclusive pathways for skill development and economic empowerment. By equipping persons with disabilities with practical skills and resources, we are not only enhancing their livelihoods but also fostering a more inclusive society.”

The event was also attended by senior officials from CRP and MetLife Bangladesh.
