Amazon gets approval for monitoring consumers sleep habits.1 min read
The US Federal Communications Commission on Friday granted Amazon.com Inc. the approval to use a radar sensor to sense motion and “enable contactless sleep tracing functionalities.” Amazon had previously asked for permission on June 22 to market a device that uses radar.
The technology is said to record movement in three dimensions, enabling a user to control its features through simple gestures and movements. According to Amazon, the capability could help people “with mobility, speech, or tactile impairments,” and it could monitor sleep with a high degree of precision.
