Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), the country’s leading Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company has demonstrated exceptional contributions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh. Its efforts gained industry-wide acclaim at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2024 held at the Bangladesh Sustainable Summit yesterday. UBL’s trailblazing efforts in Sustainable Partnerships and women’s empowerment earned widespread recognition from industry leaders for their innovation and impact. Zaved Akhtar, Chairman and Managing Director of UBL, was the keynote speakers of the event attended by more than 450 industry leaders and stakeholders.
At the event, UBL was honored with two prestigious awards in two categories for its impactful contributions: the ‘Sustainable Partnerships & Institutions’ award for its successful public-private partnerships and the ‘Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Manufacturing’ award for advancing female workforce inclusion. UBL also earned honorable mentions in two additional categories— ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ for ‘URefill,’ a sustainable packaging solution and ‘Industry Innovation and Infrustructure’ for Chattogram Kalurghat Factory (KGF).
UBL’s largest city corporation-backed initiative to foster a plastic circular economy in Chattogram is championing a major shift in the port city’s sustainable environment and plastic waste management. This project was showcased as one the key highlights of the prestigious event. The company’s barrier-breaking progression in creating impactful roles for female employees enabled a space in the event to once again appreciate consistent efforts by UBL to nurture and champion the power of the women’s workforce.
