Sayeda Tahya Hossain Joins Grameenphone  As Chief Human Resource Officer

Grameenphone Ltd., Bangladesh’s premier telecommunications service provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sayeda Tahya Hossain as its new Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) this month.

Sayeda Tahya Hossain, with her vast experience of over 26 years in the HR domain, brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic expertise to her new role at Grameenphone.

Prior to this appointment, she held the position of Director – HR at Perfetti Van Melle Bangladesh Limited from June 2019 to September 2023. In this capacity, she played an integral role in crafting HR strategies aligned with the overarching GROUP vision, managing industrial relations, spearheading talent development, and pushing forward organizational change management priorities.

Her professional journey boasts tenures at some of the country’s top-tier organizations.

As CHRO at Partex Star Group, Ms. Hossain was a part of the Executive Management team, where she contributed to HR strategy, capacity building, change management, and leadership development, thereby shaping the company’s future.

Ms. Hossain’s role as the Chief People Officer at BRAC stands out for her transformative contributions. She revamped the organization’s structure to ensure it was lean and aligned with BRAC’s strategic needs. Her introduction of a performance management system tied to the organization’s core values and objectives was a game-changer. She also undertook an exhaustive review of HR policies, combined with a detailed market compensation study, leading to the introduction of a competitive compensation structure.

Before September 2013, Sayeda was associated with Lafarge Surma Cement (LSC) in Bangladesh, where she led the HR and Corporate Affairs department. Simultaneously, she also managed responsibilities at Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Limited (LUMPL) in India.
