The monsoon floods in Bangladesh has caused severe devastation over the past few months. Added with the torrential rain, many people have suffered, losing lives, homes, and assets. In an effort to aid food relief efforts, Huawei has come forward to disperse supplies to flood-swept victims. As their primary attempts, Huawei has aided flood-affected victims in Singra, Natore.

Huawei Technologies Ltd. has been a household name as one of the biggest tech brands in the country. The company has amassed an incredible reputation, with its cut-rate product availability, and impeccable services. Keeping in mind the current situation of the country, Huawei has taken this initiative. The monsoon flood has affected one-third of the country. ; all during the COVID-19 pandemic.

THE PROGRAM

The program was initiated with joint collaborations from Huawei and the Ministry of Information, Communication & Technology. The program underwent in the first week of September, along with an online event. State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak along with Zhang Zhengjun, CEO Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd. joined the event.

The program arranged to fund relief supplies which included salt, masks, and dry food for over 2000 families. According to the state minister, this was a joint initiative by the public and private sector in standing by the victims. Huawei has been serving the families of Singra, Natore for some time now, with relief aid initiatives. This serves as a part of fulfilling social responsibility and giving shelter to families in need. Huawei, a localized global company has been fulfilling its share of responsibilities for quite some time now.

Ever since the detrimental monsoon floods started, Singra was marked as a ‘Danger Zone’. With more than 4 different rivers overflowing around the Upazila, the Singra families have faced horrendous outcomes.

With that in mind, Zhang Zhengjun said,

“This relief program is our holistic approach towards the betterment of lives in the flood-affected areas, and this includes our vision to make peoples’ lives better as a responsible corporate being. As a localized global company in Bangladesh, our aim is ‘In Bangladesh for Bangladesh.'”
