Robi, the country’s second-largest mobile operator, is set to launch 5G services today in select areas of Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet, marking Bangladesh’s first-ever commercial rollout of the technology stated in a report.

In Dhaka, the initial coverage will include Shahbagh, Fakirapool and the operator’s office premises. Customers with 5G-enabled smartphones are expected to experience the service in these zones from this afternoon.

The introduction of 5G is expected to deliver faster connectivity, support advanced digital services, and create new opportunities across industries such as healthcare, education, and smart infrastructure. While the coverage will initially remain limited, the service is expected to expand gradually across the country.

This launch signals the start of a new era in mobile communication for Bangladesh, opening the door to transformative possibilities for businesses and consumers alike.
