China Commits Over $138 Million to Boost Bangladesh’s Healthcare Sector

China has pledged $138.20 million in financial assistance to support the advancement of Bangladesh’s healthcare sector, according to Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum reportedly.

As part of this initiative, China intends to construct a specialized hospital for paralyzed patients in Dhamrai Upazila, located in Dhaka. Additionally, discussions are in progress regarding the establishment of a 1,000-bed hospital to further strengthen medical infrastructure in the country.

Nurjahan Begum shared these developments while addressing the inauguration of the Unani Education and Exhibition held at Dhaka University’s Senate Building.

In a related development, the Chinese Ambassador noted that Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus’s recent visit to China had been fruitful. As a result, Bangladeshi nationals will now have greater opportunities to seek medical treatment in China, broadening the scope for cross-border healthcare collaboration.
