Standard Chartered Bangladesh (SCB) and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka celebrated the grand opening of two state-of-the-art facilities: a Conference Centre and a Teacher’s Lounge, along with a fully landscaped garden area, marking a significant milestone in their partnership. These new facilities, generously funded by SCB, underscore the bank’s commitment to nurturing future business leaders, promoting academic excellence, and supporting faculty and professional development in Bangladesh.
Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We are delighted to partner with IBA, a renowned center of excellence in business education. Over the past six decades, IBA has produced many professionals who have led both domestic and multinational corporations, as well as outstanding academics, policymakers, bureaucrats, diplomats, and governors. This initiative will enhance on-campus facilities and resources for students and educators. By investing in the new Conference Centre and Teacher’s Lounge, we are investing in the future of Bangladesh’s business community.”
The Conference Centre and Teacher’s Lounge are set to enhance the teaching experience for faculty and the learning environment for students. IBA, known for producing some of the brightest business minds in the country, will now have even more resources to support its mission of academic excellence. The landscaped garden area will provide a peaceful and aesthetically pleasing space for students, teachers, and guests to interact and relax. Such spaces are crucial for fostering informal learning, networking, and the exchange of ideas among the academic community.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Jamal Ahmed Sufi, Managing Director of Charuta Private Limited; Bitopi Das Chowdhury, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Bangladesh; Mesbah Uddin Ahamed, Head of Property at Standard Chartered Bangladesh; and Omar Faruque, Chief Compliance Officer at Standard Chartered Bangladesh. This contribution from SCB will also help IBA uphold its legacy of producing highly qualified educators who share their knowledge both within Bangladesh and globally, reinforcing the institution’s reputation as a beacon of business education.
With these new facilities, IBA is well-positioned to continue its tradition of excellence, providing top-tier education and fostering the development of future leaders in Bangladesh and beyond.
