Amazon Introduces ‘Interests’ For A More Personalized AI-Powered Shopping Experience2 min read
Amazon is ramping up its AI-driven shopping enhancements with a new feature designed to tailor product searches to individual preferences. The company unveiled “Interests” on Wednesday, a tool that offers a personalized and interactive search experience, making it easier for users to find exactly what they need reportedly.
With this latest addition, shoppers can enter detailed prompts into the search bar, specifying their preferences, interests, and even budget constraints. For example, a user might look for “accessories and model-building kits for hobbyist engineers” or “coffee brewing tools and gadgets for enthusiasts.”
The “Interests” feature utilizes large language models (LLMs) to transform natural language queries into structured search requests that Amazon’s system can better interpret. This ensures that customers receive more precise and relevant product recommendations based on their descriptions.
Beyond just refining search results, the tool actively monitors shopping trends, notifying users when new items matching their preferences become available. It also keeps shoppers updated on product restocks, relevant deals, and fresh releases in their chosen categories.

Currently, “Interests” is available to a select group of users in the United States through the Amazon Shopping app on iOS and Android as well as on the mobile website under the “Me” tab. However, Amazon has confirmed plans to expand access to a larger U.S. audience in the coming months.
This move is part of Amazon’s broader AI integration strategy, joining an array of other AI-powered tools, such as its virtual shopping assistant Rufus, AI-generated shopping guides, review summaries, and product detail enhancements.
Amazon is not alone in embracing AI-driven shopping tools. Other tech giants are also stepping up their game. For instance, Google has recently enhanced its Shopping tab, introducing “Vision Match,” a tool that lets users describe a clothing item they have in mind, with AI providing visually similar product suggestions. Google has also launched an AI-powered summary tool to offer shoppers a quick product overview.
With AI reshaping e-commerce, more companies are likely to adopt similar innovations, making personalized shopping experiences the new standard in online retail.
