Bangladesh’s RMG Exports Surge to $38.48 Billion in 20241 min read
Bangladesh’s RMG (Ready-Made Garment) sector continued to thrive in 2024, achieving total exports of $38.48 billion, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). The United States remained the top single-country destination, importing $7.2 billion worth of garments, which constituted 18.72% of the nation’s total RMG exports reportedly.
The European Union retained its position as the largest regional market, accounting for a dominant 50.34% share of total RMG exports, valued at $19.37 billion. Within the EU, Germany led the way, purchasing $4.83 billion, followed by Spain at $3.42 billion, and France at $2.14 billion.

The United Kingdom emerged as another significant market, contributing $4.3 billion, or 11.25%, of total garment exports.
Beyond these traditional markets, Bangladesh demonstrated notable growth in non-traditional destinations. Exports to these emerging markets reached $6.33 billion, comprising 16.46% of total RMG exports. Leading the pack was Japan, with imports worth $1.12 billion, followed by Australia at $831 million, India at $606 million, Turkey at $426 million, and Russia at $343 million.
Bangladesh’s efforts to diversify its export portfolio are also reflected in strong performance in regions like Canada, where exports amounted to $1.24 billion, representing 3.23% of total exports.
These figures demonstrate the resilience and adaptability of Bangladesh’s RMG industry, which continues to cement its position in both traditional and emerging markets worldwide.
