BRAC Bank co-workers contribute Tk 1 crore to CMH for medical treatment of the wounded2 min read

BRAC Bank co-workers have contributed one crore taka from their August 2024 salary to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) to support the treatment of those critically injured during the recent student-people uprising, said a press release.

The uprising led to significant changes in the country, with many losing their lives and thousands sustaining severe injuries.

The wounded individuals are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals. While the interim government has pledged to cover their medical expenses, many require specialized medical care due to the severity of their injuries and are, as a result, referred to CMH for better treatment.

Realizing the urgent need for medical support, BRAC Bank co-workers came together to ensure that the wounded received the best care possible.

Additionally, BRAC Bank has waived the outstanding credit card debt of Md Abu Bakar Siddik, a client who tragically lost his life during the protest. In addition to the generous contribution to CMH, the bank employees contributed their funds to cover the principal due on Mr. Siddik’s card.

Selim R. F. Hussain, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, expressed deep admiration for his co-workers’ compassion. “We must stand by those who have fought for a fairer and more equitable society. Seeing our co-workers coming forward to ensure better medical care for these brave people is encouraging. This token financial assistance will go a long way to help them stand on their feet and start normal lives,” he commented.

This contribution to CMH is a testament to BRAC Bank’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and its role as a beacon of hope for the people of Bangladesh during times of crisis. It is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to assist those affected by the protest, demonstrating its dedication to supporting the community in need.
