Rancon Motors, the authorized distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Bangladesh, unveiled a significant milestone by launching six electric vehicle (EV) models. This move marks a pivotal moment in Bangladesh’s automotive landscape, signaling the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
As reported, the launch event, held at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Purbachal, featured the debut of six Mercedes-Benz EV models, including the EQS 450 4matic SUV, EQS 450+ Sedan, EQE 350+ SUV, EQE 53 AMG SUV, EQE Sedan 350+, and EQB. Top executives from Rancon Group, including Chairman Romo Rouf Chowdhury, Divisional Director Imran Zaman Khan, and CEO Redwanul Zia, were present to commemorate this significant milestone.
Speaking at the event, Chowdhury Mohammad Nabil Hasan, head of marketing at Rancon Motors, emphasized the growing importance of electric vehicles in Bangladesh’s automotive industry. He highlighted the long-term vision of transitioning towards sustainable transportation and the role that EVs would play in reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The introduction of Mercedes-Benz EVs comes at a time when the government is actively promoting electric mobility by offering favorable import duties for EVs compared to traditional fuel-dependent vehicles. Hasan also underscored the environmental benefits of EVs, noting their contribution to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating air pollution.
In addition to targeting individual consumers, Rancon Motors aims to cater to the business community, recognizing the potential for EV adoption in commercial fleets. To support the transition to electric mobility, the company has collaborated with Genex Infrastructure to establish a network of 21 EV charging stations across key locations in Bangladesh by April 2024.
This initiative aligns with global trends in the automotive industry, where major manufacturers are increasingly investing in electric vehicle technology. Audi and BYD are among the automakers that have entered Bangladesh’s EV market in recent years, reflecting the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
Rancon Motors’ launch of six Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle models underscores the company’s commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in Bangladesh’s automotive sector. As the country embraces electric mobility, Rancon Motors aims to lead the way in providing premium EV options and supporting infrastructure development for a greener future.
