M Aslam Alam Appointed as New IDRA Chair1 min read
The interim government has appointed former senior secretary M Aslam Alam as the new chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), the finance ministry announced in a circular today.
Alam will assume the role on a contractual basis for a three-year term or until he turns 68. His appointment comes in the wake of Mohammad Jainul Bari’s resignation from the position on September 5. Bari stepped down citing “personal reasons,” according to an anonymous finance ministry official. The chairmanship had been vacant since Bari’s departure. Bari had served as IDRA chairman since June 2022, following his appointment for a three-year term.
M Aslam Alam will be the 10th chairman of the IDRA.
